Spaten is one of the large München breweries, and is happily imported into the US. They are imported into the US by Spaten North America, Little Neck, NY 11362.
The Spaten premium is a fine lager. It has a Pilsner-like nose, albeit a little sweeter than a Pils. There is a flowery hop nose. Delightful!
The color is very pale yellow, and the head is superb.
The start is light, crisp and otherwise undistinguished. It is well-balanced and the carbonation tickles the throat as it should. However, the finish is long, full, nectar-like and taste is like you've got a mouthful of fresh barley. If you're a homebrewer, you'll appreciate that!
It's a light, delicious brew which is good for a nice, hot day, or a cold winter day like today. The judges say 41, an excellent brew! Zum wohl!
