   Monterey, CA / Gorgonian Rock

max. depth: 34.5 m
dive time: 31 min

notes:

Trouble clearing upon descent, and then BC wouldn't hold air. Tear? Thankful for anchor line, shed rig and thankful for gear lines and confirmed OK so geared back up just as Glenn surfaced asking what was up (me).

Dropped down to a garden of red gorgonian corals at 34 m--at least a dozen. Huge (20 cm) lemon nudibranch, tritonia festiva?, clown nudibranch, huge (40 cm) white translucent tunicate like a glassy tunicate (ascidia paratropa) except my ID book says these only grow to 15 cm. Lots of little white claws appearing from behind algae belonging to either shrimp or kelp crab. Corynactus. Large hydrocoral garden mixed with short kelp fronds on top of rock at 20 m.
