Weather ======= Thailand -------- Monsoon May-July, except in south. Language: Thai Singapore --------- Rain during year but heaviest between November and January. Languages: Malay and English (which dominates) Australia --------- Well, Oz winters are more like northern hemishpere change of seasons. In Victoria the usual daytime temps are 10-20C max, in Sydney much the same, but a bit warmer. In Brisbane usually 15-25C max. Down south the nights can get down to 0C but not often. In Brisbane it hardly ever gets below 10C overnight. It *does* snow in the mountains, but June is very early in the season. As to clothing, it depends on where you are. Up in Cairns, daytime *winter* temps can be around 28C, so shorts and t-shirts are the order of the day. LA is about the same latitude as Sydney, so you can see why it's so warm up here in Brisbane. Down south it can be quite cold, so some warm clothes would not go astray. It all depends where you go. Brisbane Again, it depends on what you're used to. In winter I do tend to wear long sleeves and a jumper, but then I've been living here a while and feel the cold more than people who get snowy winters! Australia is a big place. You'll get most climates from snowy to balmy when you go from Melbourne to the Reef. Brisbane in June is a lovely place: daytime temperature is about 15-20 Celsius, gets down to about 5-10 at night. Very rare to need more than one jumper or jacket. Sydney Yes it will be winter here, but it doesn't get coldest until August. In June, day temps will be around 10-15C and nighttime 5-10C. You will still have a lot of sunshine, which makes a lot of difference. Today it's 21C outside. Water temps here, I don't know much, but I guess around 15C now. A light jacket and an umbrella for the possibility of rain should be all that's needed around here in June. The Weather in June is usually dry and cool say down to 5 degrees C at night and up to 22 day ... but not all at once typically 12 to 17. Clothing? a jumper (pullover) jeans is normall all thatys required its a feww degrees coldeer in the soutn and warmer in the north most people have wet suits for the water in winter here but if your going on the reef you wont need them there Perth By the time you got here, it would be winter.. Personally, I can't stand the rain or the cold (By "cold" I mean 15 degrees celcius BTW :-) We do get pretty good sunsets though... :-) Temperatures will vary like heaps as you head north. Most especially if you stop in the snow fields on the way and end up in the tropics ;-). Melbourne is renowned for it's European climate, probably like coastal German towns I think. Never snows, but gets to single figures of a nighttime in winter, to warm up to say 10-15 C during the day. Sydney's a little warmer perhaps. Unless you go up to the mountains (between Melbourne and Sydney) where it will be cold (and white ;-), you'll get by with a pair of jeans and a pullover. Up north you'll do fine in shorts and a T-shirt. In June-July the ocean will be about 14 C in Melbourne, 16 C in Sydney and 21 C in Brisbane. So says my surf manual anyway. 14 is murder, 16 is cold, 20 is comfortable. Swim in the north ;-). Melbourne Melbourne can be miserable, as it rains uniformly around the year, regardless of the season. They get 50MM of rain per month. Sydney gets all their yearly rain at once. Queensland and the Gold Coast should be pretty good in June, as they are semi-tropical and get their rain in the summer (December->Feb). Melbourne is Lush-green all year round, whereas places like Perth tend to brown off during the Summers. Townsville Naturally it will be warmer at the GBR, practically balmy. You lucky devils. The water will be fine for swimming and average day time temperature will be about 29C. Yes, it's rather like Paradise :-). I will send a more detailed response later on, I have to work now :-(. New Zealand ----------- Auckland Weather in June (as at all times in Auckland ESPECIALLY) could be a bit rainy, and wont be too hot!!! (Max. 12-18, min 2-7). I think the weather is better in other parts of NZ (not in Wellington tho'!!) at this time, but that's just my feeling. You know it's only about 10 km's across the island here so the weather just blasts right across from one huge ocean to the next. (Yea we get a wee bit of wind now and again too!!!!) Wellington June in Wellington is COLD. It's the middle of our winter. I doubt if it would be as cold as Germany though! It doesn't snow but it can get very wet and very windy. Elsewhere in NZ is similar, with many places getting snow as well.
